As was mentioned in the film notes, for some reason, the restored version lacks the original film score (except for the Opening and Closing credits). This became apparent at times when the film soundtrack was totally silent – not even ambient sounds (such as the scene where Yuwen had been locked in Zhang’s room and was attempting to break the glass to escape. The full orchestral score would have increased the drama and made the film feel less stilted.
