The fate of the Jewish ghettos during WWII has been tackled by a number of directors. However, ‘In Darkness’ takes a new approach. Set in the sewers of a Polish city, where many Jews found refuge, the film explores Catholic- Jewish tensions. Leopold Socha is an anti-Semitic sewer worker who has every reason to report the Jews. Instead he gradually comes to a new understanding, but one that puts his family at risk. At the core of the film is the nature of good and evil.

The screening of “In Darkness” was followed by a Q&A session with Henry Margulies, the son of two of the Jews portrayed in the film, and Rev. Malcolm Weisman. The Chelmsford Film Club would like to extend it’s sincerest thanks to both for making this viewing such a special event. Also, a sincere Thank You to the Chelmsford Jewish Community for making this possible.
