Paranoia inducing ‘The Silence’ is part of the recent wave of northern European thrillers. Krischan Mittich, is a burnt out detective who is about to retire. However, he is still weighed down by a murder that took place in 1986 and remains unsolved. While out riding her bike in the countryside an 11 year-old girl was raped and murdered. Her body was later found in a lake. On the day of his retirement history repeats itself and Mittich realises that only he can crack the case.
