At once hilarious and brutal, this off-kilter revisionist western follows Jay, a naïve young man, stumbling across late 19th century America in search of his sweetheart. With his guide book to surviving the frontier, Jay takes a rather cerebral, ineffective approach to navigating the travails of his romantic quest. Then, for a few silver dollars, Silas (Michael Fassbender) turns up to ride shotgun and protect his young companion from all manner of horrifying scrapes.
Proof, should it be required, that the Western certainly hasn’t gone west.
