For the last 40 years, photographer Sebastião Salgado has been traveling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. This ravishingly beautiful documentary traces his career from the mid-80s portraits of Brazil’s vast gold mines, to the Rwandan genocide of the 90s, to the present. On the large screen, Solgado’s stunning, almost sculptural black-and-white images have a profound effect. Wenders delivers a moving and life-affirming tribute to a singular creative talent.
The Salt of the Earth travels to the heart of darkness, but thankfully comes out on the other side and leaves you with a hopefulness that no matter what kind of madness and repression happen in the world, there is still hope for humanity.

What possibly can I say about his film _ So, so moving …… humanity? what can I say.
Superb filming, superb dialogue – enough said at every stage to leave one simply stunned. Felt so relived to see the trees growing again at the end – hope for the future? Let’s hope so!
