Our Next Presentation: I, Daniel Blake
THE CRAMPHORN THEATRE, CHELMSFORD – Tuesday 21st MARCH @ 8PM
In a change from our published programme, we present Ken Loach’s multi-award winning I, Daniel Blake. Daniel (59), has worked as a joiner most of his life in Newcastle. Now, for the first time ever, he needs help from the State. He crosses paths with a single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy and Dylan. Katie’s only chance to escape a one-roomed homeless hostel in London has been to accept a flat in a city she doesn’t know, some 300 miles away. Daniel and Katie find themselves in no-man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy as played out against the rhetoric of ‘striver and skiver’ in modern day Britain. (Read more…)

Second Discussion Evening
The second of our three discussion evenings will take place on Tuesday 21st March following the screening of I, Daniel Blake. This is an informal event allowing anyone who wishes to stay an opportunity to discuss the films shown since the last discussion evening (Sing Street, Marshland, The Commune, Mia Madre, Our Little Sister and I, Daniel Blake).

As we have now reached the second half of the season, we are offering Half-Season Membership for £30.
Chelmsford Film Festival: 7-10 June 2017
This June sees the launch of the first Chelmsford Film Festival, a 4-day event showcasing current International Short Films, Music Videos and Documentaries. Tickets are now on sale from their website.
