    • A tour de force from Vicky Krepps – superb!
  • ‘Very Good’: 6 votes
    • The time flew past, so it must have its positives!  Much to think about.
    • True or not, it doesn’t matter.  A film for all women – just as well Diana never saw it!
    • Fascinating, feminist film.  Good to watch.  Liked the ‘modern’, ‘Godard’, touches! We’re only watching a film.
    • Intriguing!
    • Really enjoyable
    • Enjoyable
  • ‘Good’: 5 votes
    • Not knowing much about the real Empress Elisabeth, it was difficult to establish how much was factually based.  I thought the use of pop songs, and the anachronistic technology (tractors, phones, etc.), unnecessary.
    • Satisfying ending.  Wouldn’t complain to look that way at 40.
    • A strange, yet oddly quaint story of an eccentric, troubled Empress, struggling to find meaning in her royal life.
    • More questions than answers
  • ‘Satisfactory’: 1 vote
    • Need to consult wiki on the facts.

    • Second time I’ve seen this film (and would willingly watch it again), one of Almodóvar’s best.
    • Almodóvar at his best – will he make another one as good?
    • Cracking
    • Thought provoking.
    • Brilliant
    • Riveting performances from both Penelope Cruz and “Ana” [Melina Smit]; a memorial film
    • Almodóvar cannot make a bad film.  Full of colour & emotion conveyed in his usual straightforward way.  Suspect film feels very different if you are Spanish.
    • Very well done & very emotional re babies & especially the graves of the Republicans
    • A wonderful film.  Totally original & uplifting
    • What shall we do when we can’t see such films on a screen?  We need this club.
  • ‘Very Good’: 6 votes
    • Very interesting plot device.  Ms Cruz as sumptuous as ever!
    • Clever and involving – certainly no shortage of skeletons in the cupboard.
    • Decent, worth a watch
    • A gentle and reflected take on the fragility of family and relationships.  True Almodóvar.
    • Enjoyed very much, loved the colours + interesting subject matters.
  • ‘Good’: 0 votes
  • ‘Satisfactory’: 1 vote
    • Slightly disappointing.  I think it was a case of being inattentive to one of the storylines at the expense of the other.  Most of the characters seemed unloved or unlovable.

    • Perhaps Netflix will make them an offer they can’t refuse
    • Heartwarming & full of character
    • One of the best pieces of entertainment ever; Full of Superheroes; Oklahoma will never be the same again
    • Spot on. Rich and classic piece of british life, cinema, heritage & good will.
  • Very Good’: 4 votes
    • Took a while to get into it but really came to relate to the characters.  The poignancy of their daily lives (caring for ailing/disabled relatives and the mobility issues of Colin around his garden and the clubhouse) versus the absurdity of the films they were making was well balanced.
    • Adorable, if a bit close to the bone!
    • Touching, poignant and very funny – pure delight!
    • Amusing, poignant – a film we would not ever see elsewhere.
