The Cramphorn Theatre, CHELMSFORD – Tuesday 26th March @ 8PM

CFC presents one of the most breathtaking and emotional works of French cinema, newly available in glorious 4k digital restoration.  Nouvelle Vague icon Anna Karina gives an extraordinary performance as Suzanne, a young woman forced against her will to take vows as a nun.  The film was highly controversial when released, due to its incendiary portrayal of life within the Catholic church.  The Nun is a cornerstone the French New Wave. Members, please select up to 16 films, from the 32 on offer, that you would like to see next season and email the numbers to Peter Bunyan or return the form, by post or at a film screening by Tuesday 9 April (I Am Not A Witch). The Selection Committee will be meeting in April to begin creating next season’s programme.

techniques – painted environments and digital paper cut-out segments, woven into a gripping tale about an 11-year-old girl growing up in Afghanistan under the Taliban. Parvana must disguise herself as a boy so as to leave the house and support her family.
