Our Next Presentation:  LOVELESS

-2135Days -8Hours -27Minutes -54Seconds

An estranged Russian couple going through a brutal divorce both have new partners and want to start over, until their 12-year-old son disappears after witnessing one of their fights. Receiving treatment from a psychologist, Paul, for psychosomatic aches and pains, Chloé falls for him.  Living together, she discovers that Paul has an identical twin, Louis, also a therapist, the ‘double’ in the title.  An inevitable affair develops.  Dualities run  through the film, with allusions to Hitchcock – the score and a Vertigo-style spiral staircase, and a debt to Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers.  A skin-tingling erotic thriller as only Ozon could construct.  (Read more…)

Loving Vincent

The issue regarding the non-screening of ‘Loving Vincent’ on 27 November, as shown in our published programme, has now been resolved.

The distributor has admitted that the film had not been logged properly or correctly in its systems and has offered an apology. Efforts are being made to seek some compensation, with a possibility that a future screening of the film might be arranged. This very much depends on the offer from the distributor and whether an extra date at the Cramphorn Theatre can be booked. Once again, apologies for the inconvenience caused and we look forward to the rest of the season in 2019
